How to use SSH with SecureCRT

  1. On this page you will learn to use SecureCRT. If you have Shell access on your account you can access SSH via your cPanel or you will require a SSH2 client to connect.

  2. Get SecureCRT - (Click Here).

  3. Start SecureCRT.

  4. Open the "Quick Connect" dialog by clicking on the File menu and selecting Quick Connect..

  5. A dialog that looks like the one above will appear. Set Protocol to "SSH2", Fill your hostname or IP (in this case it is probably an IP, such as.. 66.98.184.58) into the Hostname box, Leave Port at 22, Fill in your username in the Username box, Set Auth: Primary to "Password" & Auth: Secondary to "None", It should now look like the picture below. Now click Connect.

  6. Once it starts to connect to the Shell account via SSH2 it will pop up and ask you for your Secure Shell Password, enter the password and press OK.

  7. You are now connected to the shell via SSH2. From here you can use basic linux commands to move your way around and make changes to your account. For a basic linux command reference go to This Site.
